Advantages over HID lighting

With HID, the light must be kept much farther from your plants to avoid severe leaf burn. Plants cannot use the BRIGHTER, more intense part of the light. You are paying for energy you can't use, then paying again to remove all that energy as heat. And you still can't apply it close to your plants. Sunstreamer allows well-conditioned plants to be positioned very close to the light, tolerating and taking advantage of intensities approaching 100,000 lux.

HIDs run very hot when enclosed. Ventilation noise goes way up with need for additional fan capacity. Larger fans equal higher cost to buy and operate. For an Enclosed SUNSTREAMER with 75 CFM AIRFLOW, HEAT GAIN IS 5 DEG. F.

HIDs are quite noisy. Some make loud buzzing noises when restarted without LONG off time. Dimmed house lights and tripped circuit breakers during thunderstorms are HID problems you don't need. Sunstreamer restarts quickly and quietly.

HID startup produces a large "spike" on your power line. If your electric company uses a "demand" charge based on max use this may affect billing. Heavy inductive load is hard on timer contacts. Sunstreamer draws only 2.9 amps @ 120 volts.

HIDs are awkward to handle and very heavy. Our shop test 400 watt HID weighs >25 lbs. Shipping cost is much greater for all the bulk & weight involved. The cool-running, reliable and powerful Sunstreamer weighs only five pounds.

HID performance degrades rapidly with time. Some have SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUES and they will burn your skin on contact!
